Australian Dance Enterprises (ADE) is ready for another year of dance. Established in 1992, ADE currently has dance studios in Armidale, Guyra and Uralla. ADE classes aim to provide dance students with the opportunity to dance in a creative, safe and positive environment in which they can learn all aspects of the art of dance, as well as improve dance skills to benefit their everyday living. ADE also aims to improve the fitness of dance students through dance in a fun, stress free atmosphere and to help students develop self-confidence, self-esteem and new social contacts. ADE Dance Class styles include: Classical Ballet, Jazz Dance, Tap, Creative Dance, Modern Dance, Contemporary Dance and Hip Hop. ADE teaches more than 200 students each week aged from three (3) years to adults and also incorporates advanced dance classes and training for students to become dance teachers through an assistant teacher training programme. Other specialty classes include an all boy’s class, performance classes, private lessons and dance exam classes. ADE has a highly experienced and dedicated team of 7 teachers and 10 assistant teachers. Principal Colette Brazier said “one of the special features of ADE is that in our teaching team we have teachers and assistant teachers that started as students. The long-time loyalty of ADE students and parents is something that I am very proud to celebrate.” ADE dance teachers are fully qualified in dance with a Certificate IV in dance and are affiliated with Australian Dance Vision (ADV). All teachers attend annual dance workshops in Sydney with ADV. The large teaching team adds diversity and enables students to experience a number of different dance styles and choreography. Last year ADE offered scholarships for Classical and Jazz Syllabus classes. In 2012 these scholarships are available; refer to the ADE website (www.australiande.com) for more details. ADE Exam classes have approximately 10 students per class to enable teachers to individually focus on each student and their technique. ADE offers dance education programs and learning strategies for Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap dancing. Each style progresses from beginner level through to major levels for the advanced dancer. ADE students also have the opportunity to achieve certificates in dance that are recognized throughout Australia and Internationally. While offering syllabus classes and exam classes for the more serious dancers, ADE also offers recreational classes for students that are looking for something fun to do after school. Recreational classes are popular classes and all dance teachers have a number of Assistant Dance Teachers to assist with individual students and their requirements. Every December, ADE hosts their annual dance recital at Lazenby Hall UNE Armidale. The recital gives students an opportunity to shine, experience performance and demonstrate their skills learnt throughout the year to parents and friends. The annual recital has been credited as one of the most enjoyable and entertaining events in New England each year. In 2011 ADE celebrated their 20th Anniversary; to recognise this milestone ADE students worked together and choreographed a 10 minute finale dance and at the performance conclusion students presented to Principal, Colette Brazier a banner with all their signatures. The 2011, 14 ADE students were presented with Certificate I and Certificate II in Dance Performance Studies. This was a fantastic achievement for all involved. “ADE’s success is a result of the continual support and dedication of ADE teachers, students, parents and the New England community” said Principal Colette Brazier. ADE dance classes are held in Armidale on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays at the Uniting Church Hall and the Presbyterian Church Hall. Enrolment day is Tuesday the 31st of January 2012 from 4pm to 5:30pm at The Uniting Church Hall, Armidale. Classes commence the following week. Classes are held in Guyra and Uralla on a Thursday at the Presbyterian Church Hall. Enrolment day is Thursday the 2nd of February 2012 from 4pm to 5pm. Classes commence the following week. Our classes cater for beginners through to advanced dancers. The dance classes that we offer include the following styles: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Creative, Modern and Contemporary Dance. We currently have 6 dance teachers 2 of whom are past students of Australian Dance Enterprises (ADE) plus we also have special guest teachers from Sydney from time to time who offer exciting and creative workshops. Other specialty classes include an ‘all boys’ class, eisteddfod and performance classes, private lessons and exam classes. Our dance teachers are; Mrs Colette Brazier, Mrs Emma Wells, Mrs Karrin Clark, Mrs Melissa Killen, Miss Tiffany Martin and we also have 8 assistant dance teachers all of who are current students at ADE. All ADE teachers have completed or are completing a Certificate 4 in Dance with the “Australian Dance Assessment Program”. This is a nationally recognised training course and is provided by Australian Dance Vision (ADV). Australian Dance Enterprises offers dance education programs and learning strategies for Ballet, Jazz and Tap dancing. Each style progresses from beginner level through to major levels for advanced dancers. Each level covers specific learning strategies, designed to provide competencies for dance education and the basis for assessment. Each level is assessed by ADV assessors. ADE students will have the opportunity to achieve certificates in dance that are recognised nationally and internationally. HSC students will be able to enroll in a 4 unit course designed by ADV and is accredited by the Board of Studies. Students will be given an opportunity to be accredited for their training in dance. Exams and assessments for dance students are optional. A majority of our students enjoy coming to classes purely for the joy of dance and are not interested in exams and assessments. Whereas other students are dedicated to working towards a career in dance and have the opportunity to work devotedly to achieve the elite skills required to complete the exam requirements. Teachers at ADE will receive ongoing quality training from ADV; teachers will attend compulsory workshops and professional development classes annually. We also use the Glen Wood tap syllabus in our tap classes. Every year we host our dance recital at Lazenby Hall UNE with an audience of parents and friends of over 600 people. The recital gives our students valuable performance and stage experience and the opportunity to show parents and friends the skills they have developed throughout the year. In term 4 students participating in the recital will be required to attend extra rehearsals on Saturday mornings. It is exciting to see younger students sitting and watching in awe at the performances of the older students, and then practicing new steps and moves in the background. These rehearsals and the recital are the highlight of the year for our students and teachers. The aim of our dance school? Our classes aim to provide students with the opportunity to dance in a creative, safe and positive environment in which they can learn all aspects of the art of dance plus improve dance skills to benefit their everyday living. We also aim to improve the fitness of students through dance in a fun; stress free atmosphere and help students develop self confidence, self esteem and new social contacts.
