ADE is a training ground for students, ages 3-18, who are interested in exploring various dance styles, as well as for those students already focused on a particular discipline. Eisteddfod work and private lessons are also available.
Students at the school are also given performance opportunities and workshops on dance and career-related topics. ADE teaches more than 200 students each week aged from 3 years to adults and also incorporates advanced dance classes and training for students to become dance teachers through an assistant teacher training programme.
ADE classes aim to provide dance students with the opportunity to dance in a creative, safe and positive environment in which they can learn all aspects of the art of dance, as well as improve dance skills to benefit their everyday living. ADE also aims to improve the fitness of dance students through dance in a fun, stress free atmosphere and to help students develop self-confidence, self-esteem and new social contacts.
ADE is committed to providing a fertile training ground for dancers of all ages and abilities, embracing traditional to emerging styles and inspiring dancers to strive for both technical excellence and meaningful artistry. Since it's beginnings in 1992, ADE has brought excellence in dance to the New England community, inspiring the best in students of all ages. Now in it's 28th anniversary year, ADE continues to prioritise individual attention, innovative performance, and community involvement to create a unique and personally rewarding experience for all of it's dancers and their families.
Colette sees students' time at ADE as part of their life education, "Children have a natural creativity that they bring to the studio. ADE seeks to teach them the tools to express themselves as dancers, while also exposing them to a structured education setting. At ADE they learn to respect their teachers, focus on what is being taught, incorporate constructive critique, and address performances with maturity and a sense of responsibility. Our students, of all ages, learn to value the challenge in pursuing a creative discipline, and the importance of a sense of achievement. Whether learning to be prepared and in proper dance attire before entering the studio, or how to stand in first position, our students are taught invaluable life lessons that will help them throughout their lives."

The programs at ADE are designed to meet the needs of all students, recreational through to pre-professional. The teaching philosophy promotes learning in a positive environment with lots of individual attention. ADE's personal approach to teaching dance helps each student reach their highest individual potential and feel a sense of pride in their accomplishments. The highly motivational approach encourages each student to aspire towards their own personal goals in a manner which celebrates the individual and promotes self-esteem and positive body image. Studying dance provides great physical benefits including good posture, strength and excellent muscle toning. In addition to providing high quality dance instruction, the expert teaching team takes pride in teaching children the skills of focus and commitment, as well as the importance of discipline and respect of self and others - valuable skills which will stay with ADE students for life.

OUR TEACHING TEAM
ADE has a highly experienced and dedicated team of 9 teachers and 10 assistant teachers. ADE Dance teachers are fully qualified in dance with a Certificate IV in dance and are affiliated with Australian Dance Vision (ADV). All teachers attend annual dance workshops in Sydney with ADV. Principal Colette Brazier states:

The large teaching team adds diversity and enables students to experience a number of different dance styles and choreography. Performance is an integral part of the dance education offered at ADE. The annual year-end showcase provides a professional stage experience for students. Over the years, ADE students have performed with various organisations such as the Armidale, Inverell & Tamworth Eisteddfod and local community events. These events offer the students the opportunity to meet young dancers from around the city and share their experiences.
Colette strongly believes in performance as a vehicle to enhance learning and promote a positive self-image. All ADE students have the opportunity to perform in the Annual Dance Recital. These performances are held in a theatrical setting complete with costumes, scenery and lighting at Lazenby Hall UNE, Armidale. All the students love performing and the most frequently asked questions after a performance is "When is the Next Show?". Not all children are natural performers. Some go on stage with great ease, while others are a bit shy. Thankfully, the nurturing environment at ADE provides a safe atmosphere for all students to develop the self-confidence to go on stage and showcase their progress for family and friends.

Australian Dance enterprises
Australian Dance Enterprises was established in 1992.
Today, we teach over 200 students each week, ranging in ages from 3 years to Adults. Our classes cater for beginners through to advanced dancers.
The dance classes that we offer include the following styles: Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Creative, Modern and Contemporary Dance. We currently have 6 dance teachers 2 of whom are past students of Australian Dance Enterprises (ADE) plus we also have special guest teachers from Sydney from time to time who offer exciting and creative workshops. Other specialty classes include eisteddfod and performance classes, private lessons and exam classes.
Our dance teachers are; Mrs Colette Brazier, Mrs Emma Wells, Miss Maddi McFadyen, Miss Tiffany Martin, Miss Jess Graham, Miss Georgia Mackson, Miss Hayley Collins and Miss Breanna McFadyen. Additionally Miss Savannah Roberts is also present as Junior Teacher. There are 10 assistant teachers also available who are current students at ADE.
All ADE teachers have completed or are completing a Certificate 4 in Dance with the “Australian Dance Assessment Program”. This is a nationally recognised training course and is provided by Australian Dance Vision (ADV).
Australian Dance Enterprises offers dance education programs and learning strategies for Ballet, Jazz and Tap dancing. Each style progresses from beginner level through to major levels for advanced dancers. Each level covers specific learning strategies, designed to provide competencies for dance education and the basis for assessment. Each level is assessed by ADV assessors. ADE students will have the opportunity to achieve certificates in dance that are recognised nationally and internationally. HSC students will be able to enroll in a 4 unit course designed by ADV and is accredited by the Board of Studies. Students will be given an opportunity to be accredited for their training in dance.
Exams and assessments for dance students are optional. A majority of our students enjoy coming to classes purely for the joy of dance and are not interested in exams and assessments. Whereas other students are dedicated to working towards a career in dance and have the opportunity to work devotedly to achieve the elite skills required to complete the exam requirements.
Teachers at ADE will receive ongoing quality training from ADV; teachers will attend compulsory workshops and professional development classes annually. We also use the Glen Wood tap syllabus in our tap classes.
Every year we host our dance recital at Lazenby Hall UNE with an audience of parents and friends of over 600 people. The recital gives our students valuable performance and stage experience and the opportunity to show parents and friends the skills they have developed throughout the year.
In term 4 students participating in the recital will be required to attend extra rehearsals on Saturday mornings. It is exciting to see younger students sitting and watching in awe at the performances of the older students, and then practicing new steps and moves in the background. These rehearsals and the recital are the highlight of the year for our students and teachers.
